Apple iPad 2 Might Also Have A CDMA Version

The hype created about Apple’s iPad 2 has given rise to a lot many rumors and hunches. There is a whole bunch of people out there who keep their eyes pinned on all the happenings related to the much awaited tablet. Now, it is believed that the next generation of iPad will not only have two but three models.

According to DigiTimes publications, iPad 2.0 is expected to hit the markets with a Verizon-compatible CDMA version in addition to the already existing Wi-Fi-only and UMTS models. Apple is anticipated to manufacture Wi-Fi, UMTS and CDMA models of the next iPad in a respective ratio of 3:4:3. The production process of iPad 2 will begin next month. The company is working on assembling at least half a million tablets.

The report published by DigiTimes reads: “In addition to wireless functions, Apple is also working on strengthening the iPad 2′s anti-smudge and anti-reflective treatments in order to compete against Kindle and attract more consumers.” It further asserts that Apple is expected to manufacture nearly 40 million iPads in 2011 which means it will take over at least 75% of the tablet market.
